Each piece of jewelry will have a hallmark indicating the percentage of gold used in its production, for example, a 90% gold ring means that the ring is made of 90% gold as its main component. In the manufacturing process, a lower percentage of gold may be used as an ingredient. For example, a 1-baht gold necklace with the hallmark 96.5% means that the necklace is made of 96.5% gold bullion as its main component (approximately 95% of the necklace is 99.99% gold, the rest is other metals). Pieces with the hallmark 99.99% mean that 99.99% gold is used as its main component. In the manufacturing process, a lower percentage of gold may be used as an ingredient. Pieces with the hallmark 750 mean that 18K (750) gold is used as its main component. In the manufacturing process, a mixture of silver, copper or palladium may be used as an ingredient, depending on the design and technique of the goldsmith.
