Around 1910, on the banks of the Noi River in San Chao Rong Thong Sub-district, Wiset Chai Chan District, Ang Thong Province, Mr. Chuen Kid Yee began establishing a small gold shop under the shade of a grand tamarind tree, believed to be imbued with the power of nature. Despite having only a few tools, he crafted invaluable masterpieces, earning him the name “The Goldsmith Beneath the Tamarind Tree”.

Now, in the hands of the fourth generation, who have carried on the true spirit of goldsmithing for over 100 years, “Fongchan”, his granddaughter, has absorbed the power and magic of this ancient tamarind tree. She decided to extend the branches of the giant tamarind to new lands in Ayutthaya Province and Bangkok, all while preserving the unique craftsmanship and indomitable spirit of true goldsmithing, along with the unforgettable enchantment that accompanies it.

Wat Nangnai Thammikaram, also known as Wat Nangnai, was established around 1850 by a consort of King Rama III as a dedication to royal merit. The temple was granted Wisung Kham Sima (the ecclesiastical boundary for ordination ceremonies) in 1910 and has undergone significant restoration since 1925 during the time of Preceptor Num Thammaramo (Luang Pho Num, the abbot). The ordination hall (U-bo-sod) retains its original style due to careful maintenance, with a major renovation taking place in 1963. The temple also features an important structure called Hor Burapha Jarn, which houses artifacts and photographs of Luang Pho Num and other revered teachers, deeply respected by the local community.

Location: 97/7, Village No. 7, San Chao Rong Thong Sub-district, Wiset Chai Chan District, Ang Thong Province. The current abbot is Phra Sophon Pariyatmethee (Veera Veerayano, with an 8th level Pali degree), who also serves as the Ecclesiastical District Officer of Phothong.
